Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo is currently in a meeting with the governors of states in the South-West Region of Nigeria at the presidential villa in Abuja.
The details of the meeting have not yet been made public. However, newsheadline247 understands the meeting would focus on the newly-formed Amotekun, a South-West security outfit.
It was also gathered that Mohammed Adamu, the inspector-general of police, is also in attendance.
The federal government has declared the outfit, set up in December to combat rampant insecurity in the region, illegal. The announcement was made by the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Abubakar Malami.
But governors from the region insisted Operation Amotekun has come to stay.
Details of the meeting later…
