Sports Festival: Hope rising for Team Ogun as athletes take COVID-19 tests

The size of the team has been reduced from 500 to 250 due to a paucity of funds.

As posited yesterday by the Director of sports in the ministry of Youth and Sports, Mrs Folakemi Iyabode Rotimi, there is hope on the horizon for team Ogun to participate in the 20th edition of the National Sports Festival holding in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

As at the time of filing in this report, efforts are on for the prospective participants (Athletes and their Coaches) to go for the mandatory Covid-19 tests.

Our reporter was on ground when they were being moved in batches from the Alake Sports Centre, Ijeja, Abeokuta, to the hospital where the tests were conducted.

It was gathered that the size of the team has been reduced from 500 to 250 due to a paucity of funds.

Newsheadline247 reports that the State athletes have not been in camp for a while to prepare adequately for the games adding that they’ve not also received their previous camp and training allowances ahead of the national games as of yesterday.
