The governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday, relaxed the lockdown imposed on the state to flatten the curve of the coronavirus pandemic.

Governor Abiodun, who stated this while addressing newsmen on the state government’s efforts in the fight against the spread of the novel coronavirus, said the state residents can now move around from June 1.

The governor, however, added that the residents the full lockdown still remains on Saturdays and Sundays while urging residents to stay at home and safe during these two days of the week.

Abiodun, at the press briefing, disclosed that Ogun residents would be allowed to move around from morning till evening, unlike before when they were only allowed to be outside between 7 am and 5 pm.

He further reminded the people that the presidential curfew from 8 pm to 6 am is still in place.

Abiodun stressed that the relaxation of the lockdown does not mean the pandemic is over, adding that all COVID-19 guidelines must be obeyed. saying the ban on interstate travel, the use of face masks and the observance of social distancing must not be violated.

On the reopening of worship centres across the state, Governor Abiodun hinted that the guidelines will be concluded next week and the process will be done alongside the state religious leaders.
