NPFL: Crunchy Southern, Northern Derbies as League enters Week 3

MFM FC trade tackles with Sunshine Stars of Akure in the South-West most anticipated derby.

The Week 3 fixtures in the Nigeria Professional Football League kick-off on Saturday in Uyo, when Akwa United welcome Abia Warriors who are yet to register a point this season.

Hostilities continue on Sunday; At the Agege township Stadium, as MFM FC trade tackles with Sunshine Stars of Akure in the first leg of South-West most anticipated derby.

Another crunchy derby this weekend takes place in the North as Katsina FC tackles Adamawa United to consolidate their position on the log.

Nasarawa United will engage Kano giants, Kano Pillars in Lafia in the other northern derby of this weekend.

In other fixtures, Lobi Stars entertain Warri Wolves in Makurdi while It will be a tough battle between Rivers United who are with the six maximum points from two matches and Kwara United who have won their first and only match of the season away.

Enyimba FC who were bundled out of the CCL earlier in the week return to domestic race as they host Wikki Tourist in Aba. Jigawa Golden Stars will also the flying antelopes from Enugu, Ranger International.

It is battle of two private Clubs as FC IfeanyiUbah lock horns with Dakkada fc,

Plateau United, still without a point this season host fellow strugglers, Heathland FC  in Jos to round up the fixtures for match day-3.

NPFL Fixtures for week 3

 Meanwhile, it may be Nigeria against Nigeria in the next round of matches in the CAF Confederations Cup as the playoff draw of the second preliminary round that was conducted this afternoon in Cairo, Egypt locked Enyimba, who has just been demoted to the second African tier competition after a defeat to El Merieck of Sudan in the Champions, with either Rivers United also of Nigeria or Bloemfontein Celtic of South Africa.

Other teams vying for the next round of the competition include Algerian sides, ES Setifienne and JS de Kabylie, Orlando Pirates (South Africa), T.A.S FC and Raja Casablanca (Morocco) and E.S.S, US Mona’s trireme and CS Sfaxien (Tunisia).

CAF Confederation fixtures for round of 30

The first legs of the round-of-30 will come up on the 14th of February while the second legs come up a week later.
