Jonathan ruled out any possibility of returning to rule Nigeria as his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has zoned 2019 presidential candidate to the north.

The immediate past president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan says most Nigerians are clamouring for his return.

Jonathan succeeded late President Umaru Yar’Adua in 2010, and served till 2015 before he was ousted by current president Muhammadu Buhari.

In a chat with Ovation magazine publisher Dele Momodu, Jonathan said he feels emotional seeing people shouting ”GEJ, we want you back” in all parts of the country.

According to the former Bayelsa state governor, people come to him every day saying they want him back. “I’m always moved to tears whenever I go out and see the huge crowds shouting GEJ, we want you, even in the north.”

Jonathan said instead of getting swollen-headed, he rather reflects on the achievements and mistakes of his administration and feels “humbled and very sober”.

“I have never been a man of inordinate ambition. I’m a man of very modest means. I hardly travel because of the logistical costs. I’ve played my part and I have moved on.”
