Assures Followers he is in control, says judges are human beings……………

The legislator representing Ogun East Senatorial Districts at the National Assembly, Senator Buruji Kashamu has assured his teeming fans and supporters that he is in control of the appeal against him by the Federal Government, boasting that “no tangible headway” can be reached to extradite him.

According to The Capital NG, this was coming on the heels of the, November 17th date fixed for hearing in the appeal filed by the Federal Government to challenge the respite granted senator Buruji Kashamu in the bid to extradite him to the United States of America (USA).

The controversial Senator who was talking at his Ijebu Igbo residence said the trial was a dead one, as he has been cleared by some competent courts at various times saying “the judges are human beings with conscience and I know how to control them at the right time,”.

Kashamu who alleged that the trial was the handiwork of his political enemies, said his experience over the years had made him realised that any judge has his own price.

“Today I have almost turned a legal expert, I know all the loopholes, I know who to see or use, no one can threaten me with any frivolous case. Are judges not humans?” he said.

The Senator was alleged to have boasted that he knows his way around Nigeria’s judicial system and his followers should not lose sleep as he has ‘sorted out all the loose ends’.

The appeal was filed by the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice to challenge the decision of the Federal High Court which put the extradition bid on hold on the ground that due process of law was not followed by the parties involved.

A Federal High Court judge, Justice Ibrahim Buba had stopped the Federal Government and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) from executing extradition warrant against Kashamu on the reasons that the Extradition Act, 2004 was not complied with.

The federal government through the office of the AGF promptly filed an appeal against the lower court decision, claiming miscarriage of justice and misrepresentation of facts in the matter.

However, the Court of Appeal in the bid to resolve all the issues raised by the federal government against the decision of the lower court fixed November 17 for the parties to present their cases for adjudication.

The AGF office filed the appeal on behalf of the Federal Government against the Judgment of Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court which put the planned extradition on hold through a restraining order.

Senator Kashamu had sought court order to stop the alleged plan by the government to forcefully abduct him and ferry him to America against subsisting court orders.

It would be recalled, that the Northern Youths Movement had one time questioned the Federal High Court President, Justice Ibrahim Auta, on why all cases involving Senator Buruji in Abuja were always allocated to Justice Abang while those in Lagos were allocated to Justice Ibrahim Buba?
